Understanding LPCB Ratings

A guide to the evolution of Security Ratings and their significance in the security industry.

LPCB ratings have undergone significant changes with the introduction of LPS 1175: Issue 8. While the previous Security Ratings issues under LPS1175: Issue 7 (SR1 to SR5) provided a basic classification, the latest issue offers a more flexible and comprehensive framework for evaluating security performance.

Products tested under Issue 7 are still valid and compliant and indeed a number of our products are tested to those standards and they are still compliant.

Our newer E130 Elite range is now tested to the new Issue 8 regulations and we have products from C5 to E10.

A1

New Issue 8 Classification: A1
Issue 7 Rating: SR1 – Protection against opportunistic attackers using basic tools.

B3

New Issue 8 Classification: B3
Issue 7 Rating: SR2 – Enhanced protection against more determined attackers using a wide range of tools.

C5

New Issue 8 Classification: C5
Issue 7 Rating: SR3 – Protection against experienced attackers equipped with both manual and power tools.

D10

New Issue 8 Classification: D10
Issue 7 Rating: SR4 – High-level security, defending against attackers with advanced tools and methods.

E10

New Issue 8 Classification: E10
Issue 7 Rating: SR5 – Maximum security level, designed to resist prolonged attacks with heavy-duty power tools.

With LPS 1175: Issue 8, the LPCB introduces a broader range of security classifications, from A1 to H20, allowing for a more tailored approach to security. This means customers can now choose their desired toolkit and delay time based on specific security needs, enhancing overall protection through layered security strategies.

LPCB: A Mark of Trust Recognised Worldwide

LPCB certification is widely recognised and respected. It offers third-party certification that is trusted globally to meet international standards. In many regions, including parts of Europe and the Middle East, it is a mandatory requirement for security products in the fire and security sectors. This international recognition enhances your product’s credibility and significantly broadens your market reach, ensuring that LPCB products are trusted and specified in projects worldwide.
